Jamie xx has turned a recording of Erykah Badu ad-libbing during a technical malfunction into a new song. Taken from the expanded version of In Waves, out now digitally, “F.U.” is drawn from Badu’s performance at Primavera, in 2019, where Jamie xx watched from the audience and recorded the sample on his phone. He made the resulting song during the In Waves sessions before reconnecting with Badu in London, according to a press release.

“F.U.” is one of five additions to In Waves, including three previously released singles: “It’s So Good,” “Let’s Do It Again,” and the Notting Hill Carnival–inspired “Kill Dem.” Jamie xx remains on tour.
